Today is the first ever GLOBAL Food Revolution Day. There are over 500 cities in 57 countries participating. Thousands of people will come together businesses, schools, sport stars and celebrities, hosting events to make food education a priority. Global obesity has more than doubled since 1980 and more than tripled in children- World Health Organization- Across the world over 1.5 Billion people are overweight and of those 200 million men and 300 million women are obese! The Revolution is about educating communities and children through the schools, about learning how to cook and the importance of food for our health. Now more than ever we need to teach our children the importance of eating healthy. Our kids are the first generation predicted to live shorter lives than their parents. As Jamie Oliver put it (and I agree with a tear in my eye) THAT IS UNACCEPTABLE. We have a chance to change the outcome for our children. It starts at home!
I would have loved to host a dinner party for Food Revolution Day, however, we will not be around today. ( I will be marking my calendar for next year)
I want to share with you what I would be serving:
